Episode 28: Avatar: The Last Airbender

More like the last FARTbender, am I right? Ugh. The sparkling and meaningful dialogue of Avatar: The Last Airbender only really comes alive when spoken by bored teenagers, written down in a novel, then read aloud by us. Take me to the spiritual place!

  1. McNally here again. I watched the anime so as a nerd I feel as though you should have consulted me. I'm surprised you didn't complain about the fact AAng got all whiny at the end and didn't want to kill anybody or do anything. In the anime, which is made by the children's channel Nickelodeon, he does that too. The difference is he does that whole speech after murdering about 1000 sailors. In the anime the horrors of war are touched on a bit more. I guess we should expect the Nick version to be scarier then the M Night one by now. I mean Nick made that movie where Meryl Streep was drown and eaten by leeches after offering to be Jim Carry's sex slave an her boat slowly sinks. Anyhow you are right most of the issues were in pacing. Soka doesn't just meet a girl and she dies. He dates her for like a month then she dies. It's a shame too because it set up one of the better lines from the show, "I had a girlfriend too, she's the moon now." You get the sense thet if he ever tries to have sex again his Ex will kill him with god powers.
